An almost all-black—or simply all-black—ensemble worn with hints of brown leather creates for such a sophisticated-chic look.

August Beauty Favorites

1. Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara -- 2010 Elle Top 5 Awards - Best Mascara: I use this mascara when I want more full, voluminous lashes. When desiring to achieve such a look, Benefit's BADgal is my go-to mascara. Although it has a fairly thick formula, it only ever-so-slightly clumps, which is a majorly important factor for me. I love the big brush this mascara has, because I am able to coat almost every lash with just one sweep. Definitely one of my favorite mascaras.

2. Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in "Pink Punch": This is my absolute favorite lip balm, that I wear quite frequently. Although it is a lip balm, its impressive buildability doubles as a lipstick. I often wear this color in a natural pink to simply add a tiny bit of pinkness to my lips. Two fantastic things about this lip balm are that it acts as a moisturizer and hydrates the lips, and it contains SPF 20 sunscreen—we can't forget about our lips. This isn't just a basic lip balm—a must-have.

3. Sigma Beauty Eye Shadow in "Elope": Sigma Beauty's Elope is a marvelous, and my best-loved, highlighting eye shadow. Although it is not proclaimed as a highlighter, that is how I get the best use out of it. I use it each and every time I wear eye makeup, for an open-eyed, brightening effect. The matte, nude color gives off a very natural look, which I love. The pigmentation is rich, and the wear is long-lasting.

4. Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream: I have been using this eye cream for a couple of months now, and I have to say, it has impressed me more than any other. It is formulated to fade dark circles and help smooth fine lines. Although these are not major concerns of mine at this point in my life, I use it for its wonderful hydrating and brightening effects.

Top 4 Picks: Summer Scents

1. Clinique Happy: Happy is one my favorite perfumes of all-time. It is Clinique's best-selling women's fragrance. The scent is a very sweet, yet deliciously fruity, with its blend of flowers and citrus: Hawaiian wedding flowers, spring mimosa, ruby red grapefruit, and bergamot. I definitely do feel happy when I wear this scent.

2. Annick Goutal Rose Splendide: I discovered a touching story behind this perfume. Annick Goutal is not only a brand, but a woman, former pianist and model. Rose Splendide was created in memory of Goutal's love for sweet roses. Its scent holds the mixture of rose magnolia, pear, and vanilla. "Rose Splendide... the scent of a rose that has not been cut yet."

3. Valentina Assoluto - Featured on Allure: Appearing on Allure's "The 8 Sexiest Summer Fragrances," this couture fragrance leaves behind a seductively summery savor, with its Italian melted notes of peach, orange blossom, patchouli, and sandalwood.

4. Eau de Toilette in "Sheer Love": This is the best scent I have ever breathed in. It is surely a sheer scent, and so beautifully elegant. It is infused with fresh, white cotton and pink lily—doesn't that just sound graceful? I am in love with this one.

Top 3 Picks: Elegant-Sophisticated Dresses

Through my online search for dresses, I came upon quite a few beautiful pieces, that are on my wish list. I managed to narrow it down to my top three favorites. Each of these dresses are an elegant-sophisticated style, which just so happens to be my favorite fashion style. These three dresses are must-buys for myself and anyone who is a fan of this style!

Which dress is your favorite?

I love wearing nude nail polish colors, because it elongates the fingers, giving them a more gracefully thin, feminine appearance. I adore this. Nude colors are perfect to wear for any season and work well with any outfit. What more could you ask for in a nail polish color?

The Mary Kay Look

1. Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in "Violet Storm": Testing this cream eye shadow was actually my first time trying any cream shadow. I have always been hesitant to try one, due to the potential messiness of application. Although my experience with this eye shadow was quite fine, I can say that I definitely prefer using powder eye shadow, simply because it is easier to blend and work with. However, I have been enjoying wearing this underneath my lashes and smoking it out (alone, as a base, or with a powder eye shadow of similar color). Violet Storm is a very beautiful color, quite pigmented, blendable, and buildable; it lasts for many hours and still appears to be freshly applied. Once you apply this eye shadow, you have to start working with it right away, because it dries quickly. Overall, I would say this is a great cream eye shadow. What is your favorite cream eye shadow?

2. Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush: I have not used this makeup brush for concealer application, because I much prefer using my fingers with my current concealer, as it gives a more natural, fresh appearance. However, I did use it to apply Mary Kay's cream eye shadow. Unfortunately, I found it difficult to blend the eye shadow; it is simply too stiff for my personal use. I love Mary Kay as a brand, so I am quite disappointed that this product didn't work out for me.

3. Mary Kay True Dimension Lipstick in "Pink Chérie (Satin)": Firstly, I love the sleek packaging of this lipstick—gorgeous on display. When I first opened it and saw the oh-so-bright pink color, I was worried that it might be too bright for my taste, as I am more of a neutral color girl. However, with a light hand, this color is quite buildable, ranging from a light to a very bright pink look. I am very pleased with this. This lipstick is moisturizing, yet comfortable to wear.

4. Mary Kay Lash Primer: This lash primer performs what it claims to do. It "intensifies lash volume, creates longer-looking lashes, lifts lashes, helps lashes stay curled longer, coats without flaking, removes effortlessly, and helps mascara wear longer." Job well done.

5. Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara in "I Black": This is one of the best mascaras that I have tried. The most important thing that I look for in a mascara is that it does not clump on the brush upon removing it from its tube. This mascara does just that. It has a non-clumping, flake-free, long wearing formula. My favorite thing about this mascara is that it is formulated to condition and strengthen the lashes—a bonus.
